Reporting Incidents
If you see an unsafe condition on any of our ranges, call a cease-fire and work with the other members to correct the issue. The continued operation of our club depends on all of us to cooperate! If you cannot resolve an unsafe condition, please fill out our Range Incident Report and give it to a Board member or email it to info@sksc.org. If the situation warrants, please call 911 immediately.
Bringing Guests
Members may bring as many guests as they can safely supervise. Each member is the range safety officer for their group, and everyone MUST shoot on the same range the member is monitoring. If there are new shooters, we recommend keeping groups small—ideally one-on-one. Remember: not everyone knows our club rules, so we rely on you to help keep your friends safe.
Use of Center-Fire Rifles
If the back-stop you are shooting at is taller than you are, any rifle or pistol may be used. If the back-stop is shorter than you, it is for .22 rim-fire rifles or pistols ONLY. On the 500-meter range, the 40m, 60m, 77m, and 100m back-stops are for .22 rim-fire ONLY. See the Targets & Target Placement page below for details.
Yes—however, there are additional rules for select-fire and automatic firearms. You may download our official policy here. Highlights include:
- You must call the Allegan County Sheriff’s Department (269-673-3899) before shooting.
- Please limit use to after 12:00 p.m. and finish before 5:00 p.m.
- Take extra precautions to control muzzle rise and ensure all rounds impact the lower half of the back-stop.
- No more than 5-round bursts.
- Sub-machine guns using straight-wall pistol cartridges may be used on center-fire ranges where the back-stop must be taller than the shooter.
- Use the two southern-most general-purpose bunkers to reduce back-stop damage.
