You may bring guests – we welcome them!

They must be under your direct visual supervision at ALL times
This also applies to any family member who has not attended this orientation
class
You are the “Range Officer” for your group

Please do not abuse the guest policy- You MAY NOT use SKSC, or the guest policy, for personal income purposes! (Training, classes, public range days, etc.)

SKSC has a small handful of board approved instructors.

Memberships require the sponsorship of two SKSC members in good standing that have observed you at the range.

If you don’t know anyone at SKSC, we recommend you participate in trap or skeet, one of our matches, or talk to us after class and we’ll arrange for someone to shoot with you.

Memberships are from January 1st to December 31st

A lapse in membership will require retaking this class.

March 1st is the renewal deadline.

Renewal will include signing and submitting a SKSC Member Renewal Liability Waiver And Release form.

Safety Fans:

Safety fans represent the dangerous areas of an active range and must remain clear of people and property during range operation.

Each range has a Safety Fan that extends from the firing line, to the target and beyond. No one should be in these areas when the range is active

Extended Safety Fans

Represent areas beyond our ranges.

Bullets do not stop at our property lines.

Bullets must NEVER leave the range

General Range Rules:

All Ranges, Shotgun Ranges, 100-meter (Rimfire Only), 200-meter, and 500-meter Ranges. General Purpose Bunkers, Match Priority Bunkers

Safety is our #1 Priority

If you see other persons acting in an unsafe manner, call a Cease-Fire and please remind them of the rules

Check for valid membership and IDs

If you don’t get immediate cooperation, report the incident to a board member or e-mail us from our web site using our incident report form

Paper forms are also available in a box at the club-house

Give as much information as you can regarding the observed safety problem

Report who is abusing our rules (membership ID)
Take a picture of car and license plate
Record date and time on the incident report

If you don’t get cooperation to resolve a dangerous situation, call 9-1-1 and report the incident

Violators of our range rules will be suspended and / or prosecuted

Remember, we are all equal partners in this club

Please protect it as your own, as a member, it is your responsibility to the club to get involved

Winter Storm Warnings:

Trap and Skeet will be closed while Winter Storm Warnings are in effect

Other ranges can be used at your own risk – roads may not be plowed yet

Shotgun Field Rules:

Mandatory eye and ear protection.
Target loads, no shot size larger than 7½ – No magnums or hunting loads!
Actions open and empty until on station & ready to shoot.
Keep muzzles pointed in a safe direction.
Clean up after yourself, pick up your empties – After the round is done!
Trap and Skeet Ranges can be used outside of trap & skeet hours but members must provide their own throwers and clay pigeons. All the same rules apply.
Preferred self service ranges are the two Trap fields to encourage all shot to fall within the field.

General Purpose Bunkers:

May be used for any legal firearm – rifle, pistol, shotgun, bb/air guns, archery (including crossbows).
Each bunker is its own firing range
Place targets at the base of the back-stop
Share the range with your fellow members
Mandatory eye and ear protection
Actions open and empty until on station and ready to shoot
Do not handle firearms when anybody is down-range
Keep muzzles pointed down range & below the tops of the back-stops
Targets must be placed at the base of the backstop so that bullets will impact the lower 1/3rd of the backstop
Adjust the position of your firing line for the distance needed
The covered bench is not always the firing line
No shooting from beyond the covered firing line or at the side-walls!
Never shoot from or across the road
Clean up after yourself
Please reserve the 100 yd GP bunker for 100 yd shooting only.

Match-Priority Bunkers:

Enables SKSC to conduct pistol matches without closing other ranges
Located behind (East) General-Purpose Bunkers
Gate is closed and locked at all times except for matches
May be used by members if the General-Purpose Bunkers are full (and a match is not taking place), but you must walk to them (around gate).
There is no general vehicle access.
Because they are not seen from the road, you are not likely to be found quickly – Bring a buddy!
This is a shot-fall area from the Skeet ranges – eye protection is required!
You must adhere to the same rules as the general purpose bunkers.

100-Yard Rimfire Only Range Rules:

Rimfire only!
Mandatory eye and ear protection
Place targets at the base of the back-stop
Actions open and empty until on station and ready to shoot – use chamber flags!
Do not handle any firearms when anybody is down-range
Keep all muzzles pointed down range and below the top of the back-stops
Clean up after yourself
Share the range with your fellow members

200-Meter Range Rules

Mandatory eye and ear protection
Place targets at the base of the back-stop
Actions open and empty until on station and ready to shoot – use chamber flags!
Do not handle any firearms when anybody is down-range
Keep all muzzles pointed down range and below the top of the back-stops
Clean up after yourself
Share the range with your fellow members
Only the 1st 3 shooting benches on covered line B can use the 50m berm.

500-meter Range:

Mandatory eye and ear protection
Place targets at the base of the back-stop
Actions open and empty until on station and ready to shoot – use chamber flags!
Do not handle any firearms when anybody is down-range
Keep all muzzles pointed down range and below the top of the back-stops
Clean up after yourself
Share the range with your fellow members
The 500-meter range consists of backstops at 100, 200, 300, 385 and 500 meters for use with center fire rifles.
Magnum round may not be used on the sighter targets that are placed on these backstops.
You may drive your vehicle down to the backstops to service your targets via the access road on the West side of the range.
There are shorter backstops with brow catchers at 40, 60, 77, and 100-meters on the rim-fire-only portion of the range.
The brow-catchers are there to stop ricochets from the rim-fire silhouette targets, and NOT to hang targets on!
Both the rim-fire-only and center-fire rifle range is serviced by the same covered firing line.

Special 500-meter Range Rules:

SKSC Range Officer (RO) must be present
ONLY SKSC 500m RO’s are allowed to shoot alone on this range
RO schedule is posted on the SKSC web-site
RO controls the range and monitors for safe operation
You must sign-in and show ID as well as your SKSC Membership Card
You may bring guests with you
It is expected that your rifle is sighted-in for at least 200 meters and you know ballistics & sight adjustments for your rifle BEFORE coming to this range. If this is not the case, please go to our 200-meter range first and check your “zero” at 50, then 100, then 150, and then 200 meters – ALL DISTANCES!
Only an RO can open or close the access gate on this range
Gate will be locked open when RO is present

Additional Range Notes:

Targets may be placed farther from the back-stop during organized shooting events (such as Rimfire Challenge and 3-Gun) when shooting is controlled by a designated Range Officer using documented stage setups
Short back-stops on the 500 meter ranges are for rim-fire use ONLY! No center-fire rounds!
Do NOT hang targets on the railroad-tie brow catchers over the rim-fire silhouette target rails. Brow catchers are there to stop ricochets from steel targets

Cease Fire:

Every person, on any range, at any time, has the obligation to call a cease fire if they see something unsafe.
Call cease fire LOUDLY and say it TWICE.
Remember, we are all equal partners in this club. Please protect it as your own, as a member, it is your responsibility to the club to get involved

Range Safety and Zero Tolerance:

Treat all firearms as if they are loaded
Actions open and empty until you are on station and ready to shoot
Keep muzzles pointed at the backstop
Know your target, place it properly and know what is beyond it
Eye and ear protection are required at all times
No tracer, armor-piercing, armor piercing/green tip, or incendiary ammo is allowed
Never use center-fire ammunition on our rim-fire-only ranges
Never handle firearms, including bringing to or removing from the firing line when anyone is down-range
Keep your finger off the trigger until on target and ready to shoot.
Violation of these rules will result in termination of your membership

Gate and Card Rules:

You may stay in your vehicle
There are 2 reader pads Outside & Inside the gate
Use your Main Gate Card by holding
it within a few inches of the reader pad
The gate will then open automatically
Drive completely through the gate
Be sure the gate closes automatically behind you
Use the same process to leave the club
Each vehicle must be “carded in” separately, DO NOT tail-gate in behind the car aheadOperates the Main Gate (at 140th Ave.)

Your Main Gate Key Card:

Operates the Main Gate (at 140th Ave.)
Never loaned-out to others
Your friends are always welcome at SKSC, but they must remain under your direct supervision at all times
You are the “Range Officer” for your group
You are responsible for their safety as well as those around you
If a non-member is caught using your gate card, it will be confiscated and your membership will be terminated
No refunds for terminations due to violations of our rules
These cards will break if bent – don’t store in wallets

500-meter Range Gate:

500-meter range is only available when an SKSC Range Officer (RO) is present on the range
Only an SKSC RO can open or close this range gate
Gate will be locked open when RO is present
The main gate and the 500m gate will be open during scheduled matches on that range Example: NRA Metallic Silhouette. No open shooting while a match is in progress.

200-meter and General Purpose Range Complex Gate:

Enter combination into key-pad to enter range. You Have 20 seconds to get through the gate – Don’t Dilly Dally.
DO NOT GIVE OUT (OR YELL OUT) THIS CODE TO ANYONE!
Leave the range by slowly approaching the gate in your vehicle – road sensor will open the gate
Be sure the gate closes behind you
Main gate and the 200m gate will be open during scheduled matches and during range maintenance (including work days).
